One of the goals of Training is effective knowledge-skill development. To meet this goal, Training is sometimes delievered in and out of the classroom under group-paced conditions.

As a rule, to maximize learning conditions, a skilled professional must apply sufficient leve instructionall methodologies to design, test, and pilot instruction before it is formally comitted to the process of strengthening learner abilities.

However, there are times when Training Development processes are circumvented for a "packaged training activity". As a result, the targeted audience fails to benefit from the potential for learning, as it reduced either to "listening" or "viewed" activity.

This is only one senario where collaboration is nonexistent between individuals responsible for developing training and those expressing a genuine need for employee skills development.

Some training products are cost effective when they are developed with genuine needs of a target audiences. Training is most effective individual employee skills and organizations standards are met.

INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY

Instructional Technology has many definitions and models. However, most practitioners tend to view Instructional Technology from a systems approach. Essentially, it is the process of developing integrated instructional systems to achieve long term results. It uses Instructional Systems Design processes to meet performance requirements and instructional delivery processes to package instruction.

E-LEARNING

E-learning is the process of "computer and network enabled transfer" of knowledge and skills. Some E-learning applications, and processes include web-based learning, computer-based learning, virtual education, distance learning, and content management systems. Content is delivered through different means via the Internet, TV, CD-ROM, mobile, and other forms of social media.

COMPUTER BASED TRAINING

Computer Based Training is often used as a synonym for e-learning. There are many similarities in both processes. One can exist as standalone courseware and the other can coexist a web-based delivery system. Both use educational and training methods to deliver instruction. Other acronyms used for e-learning are IBT (Internet-Based Training) and WBT (Web-Based Training).

JOB AIDS

Job aids are short sets of instruction or procedural receipes to aid in completion of a task. The job aid is not meant to replace a course of instruction. But, provide a positive means of influencing memory and retention of instruction to complete a task.
